Chang was the stage name for the Panamanian native Juan Jesorum. Fak Hong was a western magician, who with Chang performed throughout Europe in the 1920s and 1930s.

Their performances were mainly concerned with the mystical and paranormal of the East Asian cultures, in particular with China and Japan. Recent re-exploration and fascination with those countries brought forth numerous valuable exports for the west, including new material for magicians.

This Night in Tokio was one of many other spectacles put on by Chang and Fak Hong in the 1920s.
