Dreizehnlinden German Theater Poster
28 x 39 in (71 x 99 cm)
Vintage German theater poster for a theatrical adaptation of the classic German epic Dreizehnlinden. The store describes the last battle between Franconia (an old Germanic tribe) and Saxony—a battle that represents the last stand of paganism against the rising tide of Christianity. The illustrations on this poster are utterly lavish with detail. Even without reading the old German text on the poster, the images are sufficient to narrate the story: images of a wandering soldier, a fiery sermon, and a lone monk at his desk all capture the pious and passionate themes of this work.
