Description:
An original stone lithograph poster created by Georges Dola in 1930 promotes the operetta in three acts, La Comtesse Maritza with music composed by Emmerich Kalman. The main theme of the performance follows one of the most common tribulations of the heart depicted in modern literature, whether to marry for love or money. Dola captures this predicament wonderfully, showing the central figure in a state of quandary as to whether to choose the noble rich man or the solider who she holds in her hands like toys.
The poster has been archivally mounted onto linen to preserve and protect the fragile paper of the poster.
