Marked in the bottom right corner: Affiche du bon ton, Lucien vogel et Cie.

This poster was created in 1914 by Georges Lepape, who is a well-known figure in Art Deco design and illustration.  The image depicts the portrait of fashion designer, Paul Poiret's love interest and actress, Spinelly. It became an instant sensation in France as it was the first time that the face was portrayed in close up.  Lepape's illustration of Spinelly is elegant and restrained which are qualities that become synonymous with his unique style. His use of Art Deco simplicity and geometry was employed well before the style was established, causing quite a stir in art and fashion worlds alike.
