This poster was created to promote travel on the Eastern Railway through Bagnoles-de-l'Orne, a former commune in the Orne department in northwestern France that later merged with Tessé-la-Madeleine. The town is known for its lush green setting, as seen here in this illustration by French artist Maurice Perronnet.
