German poster in French for the Oberammergau Passion play. The Oberammergau Passion Play is a passion play that has been performed every 10 years since 1634 by the inhabitants of the village of Oberammergau, Bavaria, Germany. Artist Jupp Wiertz was born in Aachen in 1888 and studied in Berlin and Leipzig. He later went on to work on publicity for the German Reichsbahn, Zeppelin production art designs, and for Lufthansa.
