"colletta per I fanciulli bisognosi, nel quadro dell'appello mondiale delle Nazioni Unite"

Translation: Aid to Europe, collection for children in need, within the framework of the United Nations global appeal

This stunning vintage poster was designed to promote charity to Europe in the aftermath of World War 2. Poverty hit many of the European countries hard and a lot of cities were still in rubble. The design of this vintage poster is fantastic -- a motif symbolizing unity is in simple white, as is the text, but the background is quite complex, as the shadow of a person's face can be made out in the strokes of purple and black. The MoMA actually has this poster in their collection.

Artist: Eugen Lenz, Max Lenz

Printer: Wolfsberg Druck Zürich
