"Olympische Spiele München 1972"

This beautiful poster was designed by Alan Davie for the 1972 Munich Olympic Games. Davie's admiration of other painters of the period, such as Paul Klee, Jackson Pollock and Joan Miró, is evident through this bold and abstract work.

This poster is one of a series of 24 for the 1972 Munich Olympics. They were all created by popular artists of the time, and were linked to that particular artist's visual identity. The artists were told to avoid the use of any red and black on them (which were traditionally associated with Nazi Germany).
