Poster advocating for a rally in support of the Independent Self-Governing Trade Union "Solidarity", a Polish trade union founded in 1980 and the first independent trade union recognized by the state in a Warsaw Pact country. In September of 1981, the union's membership peaked at around 10 million, or roughly 1/3rd of Poland's working population. This rally was held in New York City in support of the Polish population, both in America and abroad.
