This plant is known as the borage plant. It can serve as both a diuretic and a sedative, and its leaves can be consumed in teas or as garnish, for instance.
This hand-colored copper plate engraving is part of a collection of prints from the book Figures of the Most Beautiful Plants Described in the Gardeners Dictionary, published by Philip Miller in London in 1770. There were multiple contributing illustrators, including Georg Ehret.
