The castanea sativa is also known as the sweet chestnut; this plant is edible and even contains vitamins which may boost skin and brain health.
This hand-colored copper plate engraving is part of a collection of prints from the book Figures of the Most Beautiful Plants Described in the Gardeners Dictionary, published by Philip Miller in London in 1770. There were multiple contributing illustrators, including Georg Ehret.
