ID #FF10E-PK7-S
[back] "'Jesse Owens' Victory in Berlin,' by Robert Gunn, is one of seven paintins in the Great Moments in U.S. Olympic History collection. Despite Der Fuhrer's boast that his Aryan athletes would sweep the 1936 Olympics, Jesse Owens won four gold medals--more than the entire German men's track and field team--setting long jump and 100-meter dash records that would stand for 24 years. Sears, Roebuck and Co., in cooperation with the U.S. Olympic Committee, commissioned five American artists through the Saturday Evening Post, to recreate memorable scenes from our Olympic Heritage to help raise funds for the 1976 U.S. Olympic Team."
This is a double-sided poster. The original painting is on permanent display at United States Olympic Headquarters in New York City.
