Poster advertising a performance by The Necropolitans at CBGB, a legendary New York City music club that was open from 1973 through 2006. Its name stood for Country, Bluegrass, and Blues, but it would go on to become a legendary venue for emerging genres such as punk rock and new wave. Artists such as the Ramones, Talking Heads, Patti Smith, and Television performed at CBDB, and from the 80s onwards it was known primarily for its hardcore punk scene.
This poster, c. 1980s, features artist name "THE NECROPOLITANS" above a print of a stereograph of the aftermath of the earthquake that struck San Francisco in 1906, the title of which (not shown here) is "Ruins from which a greater San Francisco will rise, from Pioneer Hall, N. to St. Francis Hotel." Below the print is the venue and dates.
