Southern Pacific 4449 steam locomotive, part of the American Freedom Train, pictured at the Gateway Arch in St. Louis, Missouri. This Southern Pacific GS-4 class 4-8-4 Northern type steam locomotive was built in 1941 by Lima Locomotive Works and is the only surviving operational locomotive of its class.
