'Praters' were used for entertainment purposes in the midst of war in Germany, with this specific poster advertising an exhibition on substitutes Germans could make in their day-to-day lives. For example, one exhibit on 'Oils and Fats' showcased soup made from de-oiled germs, fats made from sheep's wool, and fat collecting devices. This poster is symbolic of how difficult life was for many during the first (and later, second) World War.
