Original promotional poster for an Italian film directed by Roberto Rossellini and starring Vittorio De Sica. The film is a drama set in Genoa in 1944 during the German occupation of Italy. It tells the true story of a con man, Emanuele Bardone (De Sica), who is forced by the Nazis to impersonate a recently assassinated resistance leader, General Della Rovere, to infiltrate a prison and identify other resistance members. The film won the Golden Lion at the 1959 Venice Film Festival.
