The Munich 1972 Olympic design program transformed sports branding, marketing, and wayfinding through a bold, modern visual identity. Seeking to distance the Games from the Nazi associations of the 1936 Berlin Olympics, Otl Aicher and his team introduced vibrant colors, simplified forms, and dynamic graphics. Guided by Aicher’s progressive vision, the designs emphasized a cheerful, apolitical spirit, celebrating the playful connection between sport and culture while representing a new, democratic Germany.
