Promoting a day of action by Petain, a French marshal who commanded the French Army in World War I and later became the head of the collaborationist regime of Vichy France, from 1940 to 1944, during World War II. During this day he was quoted saying, "In 1917 I put an end to mutiny. In 1940 I put an end to rout. Today I wish to save you from yourselves."
