Metropolis Exhibit Poster
Switzerland, 198731 x 50 in (79 x 127 cm)
ID #SWISSROLL43-Z-01
Vintage Swiss poster for an exhibit at the Gewerbemuseum in Basel. The museum was closed by the Swiss government in 1996, making this poster one of the last remaining traces of this now-defunct Swiss institution. The exhibit being advertised here is of photographs taken by Horst von Harbou during the filming of Fritz Lang's classic silent film Metropolis. Featured on the poster is one such black and white photograph, a still from the movie, that shows star Brigitte Helm wired into one of the movie's sci-fi contraptions.
"Photographien von Horst von Harbou wahrend der Dreharbeiten des films von Fritz Lang. Cinematheque francaise und Centre national de la Photographie, Paris." (Photographs by Horst von Harbou during the shooting of Fritz Lang's film. French cinematheque and National Center of Photography, Paris.)
