Poster of the final manuscript of the Gettysburg Address, a speech given by President Abraham Lincoln during the American Civil War. It was given November 19, 1863 at the dedication of the Gettysburg National Cemetery, then-known as the Soldiers' National Cemetery. The speech, brief as it was, has come to be known as one of the most iconic and profound statements about the American national purpose. There are five known manuscripts of the speech with inconsistencies in wording, so the exact wording of the speech is disputed. This particular print is of the most popularly used manuscript, the Bliss copy (named after Colonel Alexander Bliss).
