Plate 43 includes the following note in the book's annex: "GRAN CANAL IN THE ISLAND OF MURANO. — Of the island we have already spoken. On the banks of this canal, to the right, are the remains of the Cappello Palace in which Henri III. King of France was once entertained: on the left is the former residence of the Bishops of Torcello, now the Town Hall. The boat-race, or Regata, is still annually held in summer on this Canal."
