Depicts an Asiatic elephant foetus, a human foetus, sheep embryo, a pig embryo, and mice. Very macabre.

This reprinted folio engraving is from Albertus Seba's Locupletissimi rerum naturalium thesauri accurata descriptio, et iconibus artificiosissimis expressio, per universam physices historiam. Seba consulted many scientists to help him create the illustrations and used connections within the Dutch East India Company to collect species from Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Brazil, and others. Seba's work was even utilized by natural historian Carl Linnaeus to establish the Linnaeus classification of the natural world.
