"Sculpture is a Political Statement / Central Park, New York, June 12 1981 / Angel Orensanz / WARSPELL is a five piece sculpture by Angel Orensanz, contributed by the people of Chelsea in Manhattan to the June 12, 1981. March and Rally in Central Park. It is made of 75 portable, adjusted wooden elements in light and deep blues. They try to reflect the geometry and organicism of New York's urban grid. Its author conceived it as a visual metaphor for society's construction and deconstruction. <<Nothing is so threatening or imposing, even nuclear weaponry, that cannot be reversed or restructured>>. WARSPELL's role in New York's disarmament movement started on June 12, 1981, presiding over a Sun Rise service in Chelsea, and disassembled into separate elements toured the streets of New York up to Central Park. It continues now as a visual/performing arts ongoing event called as well WARSPELL."
