Part of a series of assemblages where objects left on a table, such as the remains of a meal and cigarette butts, are fixed in place, and the table is then hung on a wall. This piece features traces of a meal eaten at his Restaurant Spoerri in Düsseldorf, where he studied the mess left on dinner tables. The work is associated with the Nouveau Réalisme movement and explores themes of consumerism, waste, and the absurdity of everyday life.
