Maurice Eliot 'Les fêtes de Gavarni'
France, 190313 x 22 in (33 x 56 cm)
ID #LBLARGERHORIZONTALBAG2-S
Maurice Eliot (1862-1945) was a French painter engraver, and illustrator. This piece of Eliot's came to be through a collaboration with other artists as they designed fans that were in attendance at a festival dedicated to other artist Paul Gavarni. The event took place in the Salle Favart in the Opéra Comique in Paris in April of 1903. The end result is a sort of mystifying scene, as guests are captured mid-movement in formal evening attire.
