Mai 68 was a political movement started by French students to protest the policies and ideologies of Charles de Gaulle's administration. The movement generated followers and traction by publishing student-made posters that were often simple in design, yet bold in its messaging. During this time there was one refrain above all others that reverberated through Paris as protesters battled with police: ‘CRS = SS’.
