This portrait shows a Civil War engineer alongside two of his great accomplishments, one being the railroad, which he helped expand westward, the other being The Antlers hotel. He is known for founding the city of Colorado springs as a dry railroad town, and later building the grand Antlers hotel, which burnt down in 1898.
