May 68, when the 1968 protests that were occurring worldwide finally reached France. Students at La Sorbonne went on strike and within a matter of weeks, the entire country was in chaos. It resulted in the country's economy shutting down for a brief period and is also attributed to the women's rights movement and gay rights movements in France.
