This poster advertises the premiere of Opera Zaanstad's performance of Il Borgomastro di Saardam (1827), a melodramma giocoso in two acts by Gaetano Donizetti. This performance is allegedly the only recording of Il Borgomastro that still exists. The poster itself features a deep green background underneath an illustration of Donizetti.
