Locomotive Diesel SNCF

French poster for the SNCF. The Société nationale des chemins de fer français (SNCF) is France's national state-owned railway company. Founded in 1938, it operates the country's national rail traffic along with Monaco, including the TGV, on France's high-speed rail network. Albert Brenet is a poster artist and illustrator. He was appointed official painter of the Navy in 1936. His talents as a poster artist were used by the largest French shipping companies, including the Compagnie maritime des Chargeurs réunis, the Compagnie générale transatlantique and the Compagnie des messageries maritimes. Later, he worked for various shipping and airline companies and finally the SNCF. The poster shows a speeding train rushing past three figures on the side of the tracks.
