"WITHDRAWAL OF PASSENGER TRAINS / CLECKHEATON (SPEN) / The Railway Executive regret to announce that as the passenger train service at Cleckheaton Spen station is being maintained at a considerable loss it is necessary to withdraw it on and from Monday, 5th January, 1953. Facilities will be retained for dealing with special excursion trains / An alternative rail service for passengers to Huddersfield is available at Cleckheaton Central. An alternative service providing three buses to the hour is operated by the Yorkshire Woollen District Transport Co. for passengers to Leeds from a stop about 200 yards from the station / Parcels traffic will be concentrated at Cleck-heaton Central station and livestock in vehicles will be dealt with at Liversedge Central"
