"Normandie, Cie. Gle. Transatlantique, French Line, Le Havre -- Southampton -- New York, Voyage Inaugural, 29 Mai 1935"

Translation: Normandy, Cie. Gle. Transatlantic, French Line, Le Havre - Southampton - New York, Inaugural Voyage, May 29, 1935

This bold and beautiful Art Deco poster advertises a cruise liner from France to America. This trip across the Atlantic was a very common one in the early 1900s and huge ships like these were all the rage. The darker colors and ombre style of this poster make it visually pleasing -- more like a piece of art than an advertisement.

Artist: A. m. Cassandre
