A movie poster for Black Orpheus (1959) starring Marpessa Dawn as Eurydice and Breno Mello as Orfeu. This impressionistic retelling of the Greek legend won both the Academy Award for best foreign-language film and the Cannes Film Festival's Palme d'Or. Black Orpheus is responsible for kicking off the bossa nova craze of America after it was incorporated into the film along with eye-popping visuals and and photography.
