Freedom From Fear Poster #4
United States, c. 194350 x 40 in (127 x 102 cm)
ID #FF20A-PK5-L-04
"Ours...to fight for. Freedom from fear."
This poster was commissioned by the Office of War Informations, the imagery originating from the Saturday Evening Post. Part of Norman Rockwell's "Four Freedoms" painting series. The 1943 paintings are inspired by the 1941 State of the Union address by President Franklin D. Roosevelt, in which he outlined four democratic values that he considered essential to preserve: freedom of speech, freedom of worship, freedom from want, and freedom from fear. Rockwell utilized this speech after the United States entered World War II, as support for war efforts.
Image: A mother and father tuck their children into bed, the newspaper headline signaling the danger in the outside world.
Artist: Norman Rockwell
Printer: U.S. Government Printing Office
Condition: Poor, fold lines visible, damage along sides.
Please note that due to the large size of this poster, it is in two separate sheets sold together. Also available linen-backed on canvas, and in alternate sizes elsewhere on our website.
