"INDIA FIGHTS IN BURMA / Jungles and mountains, tropic heat and leech-ridden streams make Burma one of the world's worst areas for fighting. Cliffs rise over 10,000 feet, streams are uncharted, maximum visibility in the jungle is 40 yards, actual visibility often only five or ten. Hitherto the Burmese jungles have mastered men, but now the Indian Army is learning how to master the jungles. Air-transport and air supplies, the techniques devised by the late Major General Orde Wingate of the famed Wingate raiders, have revolutionzied jungle warfare--one whole division of the Indian Army was recently transported in 36 hours and some of the units were actually fighting in Imphal only four hours after they had left Arakan, 200 miles away..."
