"Being an American is a tough part to play -- but twelve million boys in uniform just finished playing it better than any actor could. Down East Yankee -- Western rancher -- Southern cotton-picker -- Catholic -- Protestant -- Jew -- side-by-side, they put on the greatesat show in history. Now it's up to all of us to carry on."

This original vintage poster is from a campaign run by Scholastic Magazines. In a dual effort to honor American veterans and promote social justice, these prints used various figureheads and uber-patriotic quotes. They were hung up in schools across the United States, trying to ensure the future generation would receive the messages. The main point is clear -- diversty is what makes America, America.

Year: c. 1946
