This page shows two figures. The first is Achyranthes caule erecto, foliis obsverse-ovatis undulatis floribus reflexis (Latin for, in rough translation: Achyranthes stem erect, with obverse-ovate leaves and wavy flowers reflected). The second is Achrynthes caule erecto spicis ovatis lateralibus calycibus lanatis (Achrynthes stem erect, with ovate spikes with woolly lateral calyxes). Plants in the Achyranthes group may treat a wide range of health conditions, including snake and scorpion bites, asthma, and boils and skin diseases.

This hand-colored copper plate engraving is part of a collection of prints from the book Figures of the Most Beautiful Plants Described in the Gardeners Dictionary, published by Philip Miller in London in 1770. There were multiple contributing illustrators, including Georg Ehret.
