Description:

French Republic

3rd National Defense Bond

A statue of Marianne leads and inspires the troops to defend France and all she stands for.  Her tall figure punctures the plane of the text as she rises above the soldiers, a beacon of strength and liberty.

This composition, of Marianne leading the French people, is reminiscent of many depictions of the revolution.  She is once again calling on her people to defend their country.
