This stunning vintage piece comes from a Depression-era activist organization, Rebel Arts Group, as inscribed on the bottom left corner. According to John Foster of the Design Observer, "Rebel Arts Group was formed in 1934 by a group of students...[and] emerged as the Socialist Party’s answer to the Communist's John Reed Club of New York. Led by writer and Socialist Party officer Samuel H. Friedman (1897–1990), Rebel Arts produced plays, music, and murals exploring the intersection of art and revolutionary ideology." Posters like these were used in protests and parades during the Great Depression advocating for worker rights. This is part of a rare series printed during the years 1936–39.
