Belgium Night Poster
England, c. 1915
24 x 36 in (61 x 91 cm)
Vintage poster produced by the British National Committee for Relief in Belgium, a committee organized to provide compensation to Belgium for its World War I losses. The poster depicts a goddess, perhaps Minerva or Athena, looking down charitably on a scrappy woman and her three children, perhaps an allegory for Britain looking down charitably on defiled Belgium.
