Cover page from the French satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo, the first issue published immediately after the January 2015 terrorist attack on its office that killed at least 12 people. The magazine has long been famously controversial for its satire, especially its cartoon depictions of Muhammed, which largely triggered not only this most deadly attack but multiple others (2011, 2020). The phrase "Je Suis Charlie" ("I am Charlie") became a sign of solidarity in the protests and gatherings across the nation that ensued in the days following the 1/7/15 attack. On this cover, published a week later, text underneath the magazine's title reads "irresponsable newspaper," a cartoon figure of Muhammed holds a sign reading "Je Suis Charlie," and above him the headline says "Everything is forgiven."

Artist: Luz (Renald Luzier), Charlie Hebdo cartoonist who narrowly missed the January 7 attacks because he arrived late to work.

Condition: Excellent.
