Vintage poster depicting the successful Union soldiers marching through Washington D.C. after their Civil War victory. This poster was created using a woodblock print, a process where the illustration is painstakingly carved into wood before being printed onto the poster. The artists behind this work, the Calhoun brothers, were famous for the mammoth woodblock billboards, and this poster is no exception to the grand subject matter iconic to their style.
