"HE KILLS ME."

One poster in a series commissioned by ACT UP (AIDS Coalition to Unleash Power) criticizing U.S. President Ronald Reagan's response to the HIV/AIDS epidemic during the 1980s. Poster features a black and white photo of Reagan with the text "HE KILLS ME." and an orange-black bullseye pattern.

The Reagan administration's response to the epidemic is regarded as disastrous, both then and now. The United States government underfunded AIDS research, sabotaged prevention efforts by opposing sex education, appointed questionable members to the Presidential Commission on the HIV Epidemic, and more. Reagan's public silence about the disease continued up until 1987, six years after it had been first noticed in the United States.
