Arthur Blythe was an American jazz alto saxophonist and composer who was known for his distinct sound and excellent vibrato and phrasing. In the Tradition (1978) was Blythe's first studio album with Columbia Records. Poster features Blythe in a pinstripe suit with a saxophone in his right hand and was created as a way to write in where the performer would be appearing next, as seen by the 'Appearing at:' text below his image.
