This print shows both the Adonis Hellebori radice and the Adonis sylvestris flore luteo. The adonis plant may also be known as the pheasant's eye, and may be poisonous to many species, including humans, if ingested.
This hand-colored copper plate engraving is part of a collection of prints from the book Figures of the Most Beautiful Plants Described in the Gardeners Dictionary, published by Philip Miller in London in 1770. There were multiple contributing illustrators, including Georg Ehret.
