The balsamina plant has historically been used to treat general pain, fractures, and other kinds of medical conditions. It may also be called rose balsam or touch-me-not.
This hand-colored copper plate engraving is part of a collection of prints from the book Figures of the Most Beautiful Plants Described in the Gardeners Dictionary, published by Philip Miller in London in 1770. There were multiple contributing illustrators, including Georg Ehret.
