"Streets and Canals in Venice 69"

Black and white plate from 'Streets and Canals in Venice and in the Islands of the Lagoons'.

Plate 69 includes the following note in the book's annex: "CHIESA DEI MIRACOLI, Interior. - The principal chapel, here shewn, is in Renaissance style, designed and sculptured by Pietro Lombardo in 1484. The raised platform in front of this chapel is reached by a central flight of steps, and is furnished with a marble balustrade of exquisite workmanship. Other sculptures are by Tullio Lombardo and Girolamo Campagna. The ceiling is by Pennacchi."
