Les Victoires de la IIIème République Poster
France, c. 1908
48 x 34 in (122 x 86 cm)
This intense original vintage poster is a piece of propaganda from the French government. It promotes taking up arms against strikers who called the massacre in the town of Villeneuve-Saint-Georges. The quote is by French government official and socialist, Aristide Briand. The army of the French Republic is scene demolishing the protestors. From this poster alone, it's hard to tell who is on the good side.
Artist: Jules Grandjouan
Year: c. 1908
Condition: Good considering age. Quite a lot of tattering and staining, especially around the borders
