Plate 4 includes the following note in the book's annex: "THE TAILORS' CANAL: Rio o Canale dei Sarlori. - So called because, last century, the Corporation of the Sarti or Sartori possessed 17 houses there. On the left is the lateral front of the Seriman palace; this family, which was of Persian origin, took refuge in Italy from religious persecution towards the end of the XVIl. century."
