"Streets and Canals in Venice 100"

Plate 100 includes the following note in the book's annex: "S. GIACOMO DEL PALUDO. - S. James in the Marsh. - An ancient Covent of Cisterian Nuns, which in 1460 went to the Franciscan Conventuals. At the Fall of the Republic it was the property of the Monastery of the Frari who kept a monk there to recieve boatmen and passengers in stormy weather. It is now a powder-magazine, and none of its former edificesnremain."
